Our After-School Program Themes
Science At Work
Experience Science at Work in the Mad Science crime lab, movie effects studio and toy factory. Discover science working in nature through earthquakes and storms! Make science work for you as you manipulate magnetic and electrical forces. Learn about science working in your mouth and put it the Taste Test.
Light up your imagination as you blend and separate light, and trick your eyes with mirrors and optical illusions. Discover how to manipulate sound, harness the power of heat and static electricity. Explore food science as you practice chemistry in the kitchen and figure out how to build the perfect meal.
Learning chess helps you develop self-confidence, critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. Start out with learning how pieces move and capture, check and checkmate, castling and and material value. Schoolhouse Chess’ unique learning method and engaging characters bring chess pieces (and personalities) to life.
NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers
NASA and Mad Science collaborate to educate the next generation! Children go on a voyage of discovery with unique hands-on activities, and amazing demonstrations that explore the sun and stars, space technology, rocket science, the atmosphere, planets and moons, and more!
Feel angular momentum move you, and investigate inertia in action. Observe how the forces of flight affect airplane performance and use air pressure to levitate ping pong balls; learn about structural engineering when you build a bridge, and electrical engineering as you build circuits!
Science Comes Alive!
Wonder at the marvels of natural science as you explore how animals adapt to their environments, how bugs defend themselves, and how life can survive at the bottom of the sea. Discover the secrets of science’s impact on the brain through magic tricks and art. Explore chemistry as you figure out the difference between solutions and suspensions!
Welcome to the world of chemistry! Children make slime, experiment with different reactions, and learn to use the tools that chemists use. Polymers and catalysts are only two of the fascinating concepts our young Mad Scientists explore in this thrilling trip through the chemistry lab!
Here's what parents have to say about our after-school programs!
Our son loves science! I am a high school science teacher and love that you give these opportunities for young kids! :)
Rancho Cordova, CA
My son has attended the Mad Science after-school programs every year starting from Kindergarten! We love how excited he has been after each class to tell us about the cool things his Mad Scientist did! We can't wait to do it again this year!
When I pick up my son from school on Fridays, his energy is different from any other day. Instead of the usual response to my questioning of his day's experience - "it was fine"- I hear an enthusiastic stream of science facts and stories of experiments. When we get home, he demonstrates what he's done with the kits Mad Science gives him to take home. Thank You Mad Science!!
